End the Ban on Better Buses!

For nearly 40 years, buses outside London have been almost entirely in the control of private companies. Bringing buses into public control is a difficult process and there is currently a ban on new publicly-owned bus companies!

This summer the former UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty, Philip Alston, revealed that UK bus privatisation has had “serious human rights impacts.”

Easington MP, Grahame Morris, has tabled a motion in Parliament to end this, demanding that the ban on new municipal bus operators be lifted and the public control process simplified.
