Centene Corporation, an American healthcare profiteer, now controls 70 NHS GP practices across England.

Centene, an American healthcare profiteer, recently took over 49 NHS GP practices in the Greater London area. Combined with the 21 practices they already controlled across the rest of England, this means Centene is responsible for the primary care needs of over half a million people in England - <a href="https://www.gponline.com/us-companys-subsidiary-hold-nearly-1-gp-contracts-england/article/1707557">the largest single provider of primary care</a> in England.
This is terrible news for our NHS because, fundamentally, Centene is a "<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5720255/A-profit-greedy-American-health-giant-thousands-Britain-lost-local-GP.html">profit-greedy</a>" company and will suck millions out of these practices, much to the detriment of the quality of care patients receive and the pay and conditions of the staff who work there (which itself could affect staff morale and therefore patient care). 
This also risks GP practices being closed down for not being profitable.

"Ohio has sued health-care giant Centene Corp. for an elaborate scheme to maximize company profits at the expense of the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) and the state of Ohio, Attorney General Dave Yost announced recently." - <a href="https://www.irontontribune.com/2021/03/16/ohio-sues-centene-entities-for-breach-of-medicaid-contracts/">Ironton Tribune, March 16 2021</a> In this last case, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said: “Corporate greed has led Centene and its wholly-owned subsidiaries to fleece taxpayers out of millions. This conspiracy to obtain Medicaid payments through deceptive means stops now”.  
Sadly, all of the takeovers of NHS GP practices took place without the knowledge or consultation of local people whose care had been secretly put in the money-grabbing hands of Centene.
I am writing to ask you to terminate your contract with Centene, retender those contracts and extensively consult with local people in your future decisions.
